THE HEALTH MONITORING OF LABORATORY ANIMALS
(FELASA)
Based on the latest recommendations of the Federation for Laboratory Animal Science Associations (FELASA), we have prepared panels for both the quarterly and annual health monitoring of laboratory animals. The offer includes tests for infectious diseases of:
mice (Mus musculus), rats (Rattus norvegicus), guinea pigs (Cavia domestica), hamsters (Mesocricetus auratus) and rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus).
Moreover, ALAB bioscience offers a number of pathomorphological screening panels, that include macro- and microscopic assessment.

Screening allows to evaluate general health status and to detect early or asymptomatic phases of disease, including technopathy resulting from improper environmental conditions and animal handling.
-
General necropsy - Necropsy with identification of macroscopic changes. Harvesting of organs with visible lesions for further evaluation.
-
Basic panel - Histopathological evaluation of: heart, lungs, liver, kidneys and spleen.
-
Major organs panel - Histopathological evaluation of: heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, spleen and brain.
-
Advanced panel - Histopathological evaluation of: heart, lungs, liver, kidneys, spleen, brain +GIT (stomach, jejunum, colon).
-
Immunological panel - Histopathological evaluation of: lymph nodes, thymus, spleen + cytological evaluation: bone marrow and peripheral blood.
-
Metabolic panel - Histopathological evaluation of: kidneys, liver, thyroid, adrenal glands, pancreas.
-
Reproductive panel - Histopathological evaluation of: ovaries, oviduct, uterus, mammary gland.
Histopathological evaluation of: testicles, epididymis, vas deferens, accessory reproductive glands.
-
Gastrointestinal panel - Histopathological evaluation of: oesophagus, stomach, duodenum, jejunum, colon, liver, pancreas.
-
Neural panel - Histopathological evaluation of: brain (5 sections), spinal cord (5 sections),peripheral nerve (sciatic or vagus), eyeball.

Environmental hygiene monitoring
In addition to monitoring for infectious diseases, important to maintaining the proper health status of laboratory animals is the proper hygiene of their environment. The basic sanitary parameter characterizing the environmental conditions of the animal house is the microbiological purity of equipment surfaces, air, water and feed.
ALAB bioscience has developed microbiological tests to assess the hygienic status of animal housing, washing and disinfection processes, as well as the microbiological safety of feed.
-
Environmental samples (surfaces, equipment, handles, air, etc.).
-
Water and feed samples
